Business agencies and membership organisations are seeing a rise in requests from SMEs to help overcome issues. There is a fear of legislation around work, health and disability as many businesses don’t have the expertise or knowledge to deal with these issues and are fearful of doing the wrong thing.
The health of working age people, recruiting and retaining quality staff, and wellbeing of an older workforce are also impacting on productivity, customer service and sales.
Businesses are also missing out on the potential custom of the ‘purple pound’, estimated at £249 billion per annum. Employing a diverse workforce that reflects their target market can attract new customers.
